KFOG Kaboom – redux
Posted By John Chabalko on July 4th, 2007
Happy 4th of July! Here’s one more shot from the KFOG Kaboom fireworks display from a couple of months ago.
It’s pretty tough shooting fireworks in San Francisco. You’re in the middle of a major city so it never really gets that dark. It’s usually at least a *little* foggy (if you’re lucky) which just reflects even more light. Because of the fog the smoke from the fireworks tends to linger – so after about 5 minutes of the show the area is wrapped in thick smoke making it difficult to even see the rest of it.
On this night we got lucky and there was a stiff breeze that kept the smoke moving. Stiff breezes and long exposures don’t go together too well together so all-in-all it was challenging.
One of the other exposures from that night is here. (I tweaked the levels a little bit on this new one to try to bring out the night sky a little more.)
