Dumbo, Brooklyn

This is probably one of the best neighborhood names i’ve heard. In case you don’t know DUMBO translates to: Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It seems from looking around for that this – like many other things – is something that only I was not aware of and the rest of the world has been aware of for a while. 1978 to be exact.
Dumbo is a pretty great part of Brooklyn. On our way back from Queens our first night there we spent about 30 minutes getting a driving tour from Carl, it was great preview to what we’d see the next day walking around. For whatever reason i found the streets of this neighborhood pretty fascinating. There are shops, bridges and their underpasses seemingly all over the place, all offering different views of of New York and Brooklyn alike.
I have a (relative) pile of pictures from this walk that i’ll put up over the next week or two..
