We took a quick trip up to Sonoma County over Labor Day weekend. We made a couple of stops along the way out, spent some time in the hotel pool in the afternoon, and then made the short drive to the ocean just as the sun was starting to set. By the time the late afternoon rolls around all of the fishing boats are docked and many of the smaller restaurants have closed down which slows everything down. There are still some small groups of people lingering around the coastal trails but for the most part the winds are picking up a little and people are heading back to their tents and hotels.
The first picture there is from the following morning down at the harbor across the street from our hotel. In the morning the fog had fought its way back to land and it takes a few hours after the sun rises to beat it back out to sea. The fog has a way of shutting out most of the environmental noise, just leaving the sound of the water and occasional passing car. And this boy who was out there by himself skipping stones into the water.
